Timing Belt Change

How do you know when your timing belt needs changed? My car a Peugeot 307 2.0xsi has started making a kind of whizzing noise and gets higher pitched when I press the accelerator. The guy I bought the car from told me it was replaced at 70k miles although he had no proof of it. The car has now done 116k miles.

  1. I would not think its that. However it could have went bad. Usually 100,000 miles is when you change them
